The first warm Saturday of the year. We opened the apron at nine. Twenty-eight cars were on it by ten.
We had not put much organisation behind it — a note in the despatch list a fortnight before, a chalkboard out at the road, two of the workshop boys around to talk to anyone curious about a particular car. We had counted on perhaps a dozen drop-ins. We were not prepared for what arrived.
The first car in was a customer's E61 Touring — a 535d Sport with 220,000 miles, which he had brought to show us the engine bay (immaculate) more than the car. By eleven, four owners of cars we had sold in the last twelve months were on the apron, comparing notes. By midday, the apron was full and the overflow was lining up in the Lakes Business Park access road.
We will do another. May, probably, when the weather has settled. If you want to be told first, the despatch list is the place — there is a form at the bottom of every page on the site.
